Now that we are firmly in dock and having weathered a rather nasty storm over night, complete with hail and constant lightning, it time to fix stuff. I have already mentioned that one or more of our water maker membranes from the COVID era have failed. This prompted a call to the company that manufactures the desalinator/water-maker for a replacement set. Martin De Jong who is the friendly face of the company had already joined me in a long whatsapp conversation regrading how and what to replace in our unit. I order two membranes on the assumption that at least one of the three must be good and this would save me at €500. Replacement will be rather straight forwards although a bit complicated since we have ot dismantle the membranes assembly, force out the membrane with water pressure, and replace all again without creating leaks or getting stuff backwards and spare parts left over. At present we are in a holding pattern in Bonifacio harbour until the parts arrive. it may take us a lay over of 3-4 days. But this is such a wonderful place I don’t mind the delay!

On a more ominous note, the grey water tank has been acting up. The pump has either refused to start or refused to stop. All of which indicates that the top of the cistern has to come off and the level indicator should be inspected and corrected as needed.

Here is the grey water tank in all it glory just beneath the last step in to the main salon. That grey cylinder houses the float level which has been having an off-and-on relationship with the installed stop switches which con tool the pump activity.

dressed to do battle with the grey water cistern. Wish me luck!

Yep! lots of hoses and black slim. At the bottom of which is the round float attached to the pole which triggers the pump switch.
After a thorough hosing and clean up as well a a healthy dose of silicone lubricant on the float pole, everything was reassembled. The process was not as difficult or icky as I had dreaded. Now all that remains is to listen to the pump next time it fires up and hope that the float and switches are behaving themselves.
