We have spent a wonderful and peaceful week plunking along the east coast of Sardinia and gradually making our way to the southern tip. This is in advance of our transit to Tunisia and the Port of Bizerte.

The east coast of Sardinia is largely empty. There are very few large towns and no cities to speak of. That leave the vast coast line of great sandy beaches open to campers and occasional seaside bistros. The bays are generally free from the crowds that greet boater and vacationers in the northern half of this island. In fact, we were happy to make a point of pressing on to get down the coast to these lesser travelled areas.

We have been rewarded with quiet anchorages and beautifully clear waters. Our last few anchorages brought us to the tip of Sardinia and from there we turned westward to the underside of the island and Cagliari.

The winds have been largely on our nose the entirety of the trip down the coaster with only a couple of days of good sailing with favourable winds. The last day to Cagliari took us 5 hours under diesel power to make the port. The weather has been hot and humid with nights not much cooler. The only respite had been the winds which have been strong during the afternoons and dwindling to nothing by the late evening. Our air conditioner has proven very valuable and we use it to cool the stern master cabin fro 45 minutes before bedtime to insure we can get off to bed comfortably.
