We are having to wait for the arrival of our water-maker membranes. These have been shipped from Antibes and are expected to arrive tomorrow. Until then we have the luxury to explore this great little port nestled in a Corsican fiord. After a breakfast of ‘Daddio healthy muffins’ we head up to the old town via a steep cobblestone road that ends at a narrow outlook over the ocean from the isthmus that also affords a view back to the harborside was well.

The view from this vantage point allows us to see the entirety of this rather small port. The narrow and long entrance to the harbour allows it good security and makes for an intimate harbour with everything rather close and at hand. It also means that there are no large commercial freighters or cruise ships that can enter. This prevents the town from becoming a crowded tourist haven or a rundown commercial port dominated by industrial buildings, warehouses and the like.

A view to the east along the southern tip of Corsica. Steep cliffs make up this part of the coastline with numerous small bays and anchorages. The best of these is Bonifacio which benefits from a deep fiord like bay.
